On the one hand they have definitely brought economic growth and higher standard of the living, on the other hand enormous pressure on consumption, buying goods and passive entertainment in huge "amusement factories" has appeared and swallowed up the population. Supported by aggressive advertising identification with this "shopping and easy living lifestyle" has become widely spread.
